Sixteen city police officers will be honoured for long-standing service on the local force.
The Exemplary Service Awards will be handed out at the Valhalla Inn to members of the Thunder Bay Police Service Thursday evening. Awards of recognition will be organized into three categories.
The Police Exemplary Service Medal is awarded to officers who have served 20 years in law enforcement.
The Police Exemplary Service Bar is awarded to officers for 10 years of exemplary service in addition to 20 years of service.
The dedication to Service Award is presented to civilian members of the force with 20 and 30 years of service.
In addition to the service awards, a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal will be presented to deputy chief Andy Hay and former police chief Bob Herman.
