Though she's supposed to be studying, Cheryl Luptak can't help but search for summer jobs. The Lakehead University Kinesiology student said she isn't alone. Finding a job is a top priority for her and her friends. It's the reason she and an expected 1,000 students checked out more than 25 possible employers at the first ever Lakehead Summer Jobs Fair Wednesday afternoon.  With a walk around the Agora, Luptak said she'd already found several opportunities, which with a minor in Gerontology included Thunder Bay's Homes for the Aged. "I'm really interested in the outdoors so I (also) found paddling opportunities," she said. Lakehead's career and employment specialist Christina Buzzi said that's exactly what the fair is supposed to do. While the university does have a job bank and hosts several career fairs throughout the year, this one gets students and employers face to face before the summer starts. "We thought we should make it more possible for personal connection between the employer and the student," she said. And it's a good way to show the diversity of summer jobs out there. Engineering firms, government ministries, tree planting and educational programs were just a few on display.
