Julia Strauss isn’t one of those brides-to-be who’s been planning her wedding since she was old enough to walk.
But it’s something all little girls think about, she said Sunday, strolling through the Thunder Bay Wedding Show. “I think everyone thinks about it at some point in their life. But I haven’t really thought about it my whole life. Just this last year it’s been a lot of planning and something to look forward to,” Strauss said.
Having a one-stop wedding centre at her fingertips should make the experience a whole lot simpler, she added.
Brides and groom are faced with dozens of choices leading up to their big day. From choosing flowers and a cake to picking out their dream dress or the right photographer, it can be a daunting task.
Strauss, who plans to be married on Aug. 30, said it was a great event to gather as much knowledge in as short a time as possible. “There’s a lot of vendors. I learned a lot about flowers and you meet a lot of good people to help you out. Everyone is supportive. I guess what I’m most looking forward to today is figuring out where to get my hair done, my makeup, just the finishing touches, I think.”
Andre Fitzgerald, who organized Thunder Bay Wedding Show, said it’s always exciting trying to help happy couples create the perfect moment. “It’s a great day to shop and get all of your wedding needs in one location,” Fitzgerald said. “You could potentially plan your whole wedding day in one day, versus spreading it out over the year.”
He added more than 220 brides pre-registered for Sunday’s event at the Victoria Inn, where parking spaces were at a premium.
