It's not often a student would want to spend March Break at another school.
But many students came from across the province to Lakehead University Wednesday as it hosted its first ever College Transfer Preview Day. From Fleming College in Peterborough to Confederation College here in Thunder Bay, students spent the day at Lakehead learning how to turn their college diplomas into university degrees and checking out the campus and meeting with admissions. "They're here to learn more about their program," Lakehead recruitment officer Joanna Krisko said.
Engineering seems to be the most popular transfer program after students get their college diploma. "Then they can come and do a summer transition program and complete their actual university degree in two years," Krisko said.
But it's not the only program. The university has many articulation agreements in place for a variety of programs. "We definitely do see that more and more," Krisko said of transfer students. "It's becoming quite popular."
And although it was only the first year, Krisko said the transfer preview day has been pretty popular already.
