Kris Story was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma when he was 20 years old.
He's been in remission for 12 years now and looks for ways to help fundraise for the Canadian Cancer Society.
He showed that commitment by having his head shaved Thursday at the 18th annual Cops for Cancer kickoff at the Thunder Bay Police Service station on Balmoral Street. "When I was going through the treatment the cancer society was a huge part of my process. I just want to give back," Story said.
This is about the fourth time Story has participated in the campaign and said it's near and dear to his heart. "Any sort of fundraising we can do to help cancer research and supporting people with cancer is a good cause," he added.

This year the Thunder Bay Police Association is dedicated the event to Leo Karhinen who passed away last weekend from leukemia. "Unfortunately we're saying goodbye to one of our longtime serving members, who was retired," said association president and event chairman Greg Stephenson.
The event goal is usually $20,000. Last year $25,000 was raised and with the event dedicated to their fallen comrade, Stephenson hopes they can break a record this year.
Cops for Cancer is being held May 10 at the Intercity Shopping Centre in the promotions court from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
