If you’re an artist looking for inspiration, then you’ll be interested in a new program being launched this summer by the Canadian Lighthouses of Lake Superior (CLLS).

Whether you are a writer, sculptor, painter or work in another art form, it’s an opportunity to create in the unique and natural setting at Porphyry Island Lighthouse, located 15 km east of Silver Islet on Black Bay.

AIR (Artist in Residence Program) allows a sponsored artist to practice their craft, share their vision and talent with visitors and sell their work.  The chosen artist will be provided with transportation to and from the island, living accommodations and studio/gallery space.
Deadline to apply is May 20th. Artists will be asked to submit samples of their work and a panel of judges will choose the successful candidate.

This residency provides breathtaking scenery for inspiration, seclusion for artists to create and a chance to be part of preserving this historic lighthouse for future generations.

For more information and to apply go to our CLLS’s Facebook page at: http://clls.ca/events/artist-in-residence/

You’ll also be able to view pictures and video here of the setting Porphyry Island Lighthouse provides to artists.
