THUNDER BAY - The Nishnawbe Aski Nation is supporting a group that is about to embark on a Sacred Walk.

The group includes Indian Residential School Survivors and their supporters who want to raise awareness for the issues that affect First Nations people.

A press conference was held today at the NAN Community Wellness Office, to announce the sacred walk for healing and reconcilliation.

The ten day journey begins Saturday in Thunder Bay and ends in Kenora on June 21, which is National Aboriginal Day.

Frederick Thomas from Lac Seul First Nation said the idea of the walk came to him from a dream.

NAN officials will be providing the group with health support workers during their journey.
