THUNDER BAY - One of the biggest summer concerts in Northern Ontario is already preparing another encore.
Fort William Historical Park’s Fort Fest brought thousands of classic rocks fans to its outdoor amphitheatre to enjoy an array of musical performances.
Among the bands who took to the stage this weekend included The Cult, The Threws, Helix and Starship.
Historical Park general manager Sergio Buonocore said he was pleased with the turnout for this year’s festival, adding that he will begin planning for next year Monday.
“Everybody’s happy,” Buonocore said. “All our food vendors, the sales have been great, the weather has been cooperative and everyone is having a really great time.”
Organizers estimated around 10,000 people were in attendance throughout the course of the weekend.
“It’s a great way to spend the weekend, staying in Thunder Bay and enjoying the wonderful things the city has to offer,” he said.
“Rather than going to other parts of the country let’s stay right here in Thunder Bay and enjoy ourselves.”
Buonocore added that having these big events throughout the summer makes the city a stronger more vibrant community.
“The more events we have in Thunder Bay, the more activities and festivals we have will draw tourists to the beautiful city.”
The event wraps up Saturday evening at 11 p.m. followed by a Fort Fest after party till 1 a.m.
