THUNDER BAY -- With bike lanes reopening later this week, it's time for a reminder on how they work.
The city's active transportation department partnered with the Thunder Bay Environmental Film Network to hold a movie night with a cycling theme at the Finlandia Club on Tuesday evening. "They cover all the major questions people have about bike lanes," said Adam Krupper, the city's active transportation coordinator. "It's a nice refresher on what to do with bike lanes."
Sharing the Road, a nearly 12 minute film was produced by the active transportation department last summer educating both cyclists and motorists on how to properly use the lanes.
Krupper was hopeful that the new medium would get the message out to a broader audience. "The city has worked really hard to provide a lot of education but we've focused on providing presentations and print media but we thought a new way to approach the public was to give them videos and something where they can visually see or hear what to do," he said.
The videos will eventually be made available on the city's YouTube channel.
