THUNDER BAY - More than 500 people are ditching their cars this week for the Commuter Challenge.
The event officially kicked off today at Thunder Bay Regional. This year, organizers with Eco-Superior are aiming to beat the city of Kingston who came in first place last year with the most participants.
The event challenges people to leave their cars at home and bus, bike or walk to work. Last year Thunder Bay came in second to Kingston.
This year, organizers are looking to change that. As of this morning, 56 workplaces and over 500 people have signed up to participate.
Program Coordinator, Ashley Priem, said it's not too late to sign up.
The commuter challenge runs until the Saturday. To participant, you just have to log one commute between now and then. To sign up, visit the website.
